Lowrider Memories

(c) Angelo J. Sandoval

Blast from the past
memorias de los dias
when I would cruise
Spaña’s main drag,
from the sonic on Fairview
to the sonic in San Pedro.
Lowriders bumper to bumper.
13 inch supres,
occasional 14s
An occasional 14 Mcklain wired rim.
The ranflas, with enough clearance for an hormiga.
Friday nights bumper to bumper,
Carnales cruising there ranflas.
Cruising from Sonic to Sonic bumping
not Eazy-E or Dre,
pero Los Blue Ventures, Chili Line,
Los Lopez, Mezcal y pura musica
del Nortel de Nuevo Mexico.
a veces, mi Tio, El Famoso, would kick some of those,
les echaba those 80s rock songs.
y pasaba dicendo, “it cuts like a like a knife.”
Esos eran los dias,
the good old days,
cruising Spaña’s main drag.
Escuchundo musica del alma.
la musica que era de nuestra
eschucabanos esa musica Norteña con orgullo y corazon.
